DJI Phantom 2 first flight with camera

One of my first flights with my new quadcopter, and the first flight with camera.

Filmed at a closed down factory area (Klosterøya) in my home town Skien in Norway. The area is now being transformed to a residential area and you can see the construction works.

It is filmed with a GoPro Hero3+ attached to a DJI Phantom 2 with Zenmuse H3-3D gimbal.

I am testing the maneuverability of the quadcopter. At the end of the film I’m trying to descend fast, but the quad starts wobbling out of control and I lost nearly all lift. The gimbal came out of it’s dampeners, but luckily the only damage was one chipped propeller.

UPDATE: Thanks to the great guys at PhantomPilots.com I probably found the cause of the crash. It’s called VRS and works kinda like an infinite loop or feedback on you lift. By descending too fast the down wind feeds back to the top of the rotor and generates a vortex wind that make you loose your lift. To avoid this it is a good idea to descend with a head speed towards the wind. If you have to descend vertically it should be done very slowly. If the VRS does become a reality then try to move towards the wind to free yourself from the vortex.
